Constabulary Recruitment Updates

Covid-19 Protection Framework (Tāmaki Makaurau)

While Tāmaki Makaurau remains at Orange, the following Recruitment activities are postponed in Tāmaki Makaurau until further notice:

  • Physical Appraisal Tests (PAT)
  • SCOPE Shifts
  • In station Literacy Testing

Our staff will be in touch with you to reschedule these once it is safe to recommence these activities.

If you have any further questions, queries, or concerns - please get in touch with your Selection Specialist or Recruitment Hub.

Current Status

We are now accepting applications for a few areas only. If an area you want to apply for is not currently open for applications, continue with your fitness and learning journey.

Please note some areas are only open for applications to a specific location (in brackets).

We are seeking applications from those who already meet our fitness standards and are ready to hit the ground running in District.

On 26 November 2021, the Government announced that all Police constabulary staff, authorised officers and recruits are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by 1 March 2022.

Due to this Vaccination Order, Police now requires all recruit candidates to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and to provide verification of their vaccination status as part of the application process.

If you have a current active application, login here to view your profile.

Is my district accepting applications?

If you're committed to being posted to an ‘Opening Soon’ district / area we welcome your application in the New Year.

Your preferences

The application form now asks you for your district area preferences.

Only priority districts will be advertised as open and will appear on your application form. Priority districts are districts that don’t have enough active applications and will only remain open until we receive the applications we need.

Priority districts can open at any time and close at any time. We encourage you to check back here regularly for updates.

If you select a district away from where you currently live, you must show a commitment and be able to relocate to this district.

Requests to change to non-priority districts/areas will not be accepted and we have the right to close your application, irrespective of what step you are in the process and you will need to wait until your preferred district is open.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are only certain areas open for applications?

At the moment, we have more applicants than we have roles available. Our focus is on meeting the demand for Police officers in hard-to-fill districts and areas, and on ensuring our workforce reflects our diverse communities.

When will you be accepting applications for my preferred district?

We are continuously monitoring demand across the country. As we open applications in more districts, we will update the information on this page.

Can I still apply for another non-constabulary job at Police?

You sure can. Non-constabulary recruitment will continue as normal. You can find out more about the other exciting career opportunities across the country at New Zealand Police here.

Are you accepting re-joins?

Please refer to Rejoin Recruitment for information about rejoining if you are a former NZ Police officer.
